CA Gateway Security

Description

CA Gateway Security formerly Secure Content Manager (SCM) addresses inbound security threats including viruses, spam, phishing, malicious code threats and other offensive content usage at the gateway.  The majority of the spam is now blocked in the early stage of the SMTP negotiation level, way before bandwidth and storage data is accepted.

Key Features

Desktop features - this feature provides simplified end user management of Quarantined items, Personal lists, Quarantine settings and Reporting of slipped Spam and false positives, all from within the Outlook Client.

  • Simple and silent installation - Plugs CA Gateway Security Desktop option into Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007.
  • Secure Communication - Gateway Security Desktop to the Quarantine server is SSL encrypted (Gsoap). Unlike others Plugin that only handle the messages after they get into the mail server, CA Gateway Security Desktop Option is applying users Configuration at the gateway, way before they hit the company's mail servers.
  • Browse My Quarantine - connects the user's browser to the CA Gateway Security portal to view their quarantine messages.
  • Quarantine Folder Status - fetches the user's quarantine folder status from the quarantine server, formatted as: total messages, total unread messages and current quota.
  • Personal Lists - the ability to view your allow/deny lists from the quarantine server for review/editing. Changes done by the user are kept back on the quarantine server.
  • Creating ‘Safe' Contacts - Outlook contacts or recipients of your sent items emails can be automatically imported to your allow list placed on the quarantine server.
  • Notification - ability to be notified when a new message was sent into your quarantine folder at the Gateway.
  • Reporting Spam - each message has the CA Gateway Security Allow/Deny/Report Spam/Report Not Spam plugin buttons, allowing the user to add items into his lists and submit spam samples to the research team by a click of the button.

ISA Plugin Option

  • Microsoft ISA 2004/2006 Server Plugin - this is a major enhancement targeted at Enterprises, which will offer CA Gateway's Web Filtering with Microsoft ISA's performance and caching capabilities.

Enhanced URL Filtering

  • Allows end users to bypass website blocking using an administrator configurable password. When a site is blocked, each user can submit the password, if it is correct access is granted.
  • When a site is blocked, each user can submit a request to allow access to the specific site.

Improved Spam/Phishing Protection

  • MailShell Engine - enhanced phishing detection techniques based on Accumulative Phishing engine.
  • SPF Support - added sender policy framework to prevent email forgery
  • Live Feed - enhanced reputation system
  • Greylisting - temporary blocking of emails from unknown senders
  • Spam Engine updates - added an option to automatically upgrade the spam detection engine to the latest, without any manual patching required.

Phishing

  • Phishing detection by checking embedded URL(s) against the URL Categorization engine and against the Accumulative Phising engine.
  • Focused on better fighting Spam/DHA (Directory Harvest Attack) attacks by isolating the source attack.
  • Definitive Spam Blocking - it is now possible to differentiate between ‘likely' Spam and ‘Definitive' Spam. This significantly reduced the amount of messages sent to the quarantine, since most ‘Definitive' Spam is being blocked.

Quarantine Tool Enhancements

  • Allows the admin to add items to the global Allow/Deny lists by a click of a button from within a message.
  • To avoid Quarantine exceeding storage limits, Quarantine storage is now controlled by a user quota. Once exceeded, new items can be deleted or bounced back to the user.

Web Quarantine

  • Web Quarantine now supports Single-Sign-On (SSO) and delegation
  • Web Quarantine interface refreshed to comply with current CA UI standards

Increased Usability

  • Admin can configure the SMTP undelivered message composed by CA Gateway Security when a message cannot be delivered to destination (requested by many customers)

Enhanced Role Based Support

  • 2 admin consoles - CA Embedded Entitlements Manager web console (formerly IAM Toolkit) and the CA Gateway Security Manager Console tool.
  • o CA Embedded Entitlements Manager - the manager console is now configuring the CA Embedded Entitlements Manager Server SDK to support CA Gateway Security Role based particular needs, having all configuration required for this feature centralized on a single admin console.
  • CA Gateway Security Manager Console GUI - allows configuration of the CA Embedded Entitlements Manager server, add/remove AD users to the CA Gateway Security filter.

Additional Features

  • Append to File Action - option to switch to a new file once in X days or once File size is greater than Y.
  • Tag Header Action - CA Gateway Security includes reasoning why email was spammed in the message header.
  • Disclaimers - CA Gateway Security will ensure that only one disclaimer message will appear in the body of a message.
  • Upgrades - The CA Gateway Security 8.1 installation will read backed up data upon installation and presents the relevant restored data during the install process (restored data is available immediately at installation completion.).
  • LDAP Templates - CA Gateway Security now provides the ability to associate different to different LDAP servers. LDAP pooling is provided to avoid overloading the AD server with reconnect attempts.
  • ESMTP support - CA Gateway Security now supports following ESMTP extensions: Plain/Login SMTP authentication and 8BITMIME transport.
  • Provides the administrators ability to manage CA Gateway Security engines when the Control Center is down.
  • Provides the administrators the ability to find what e-mail addresses have the most messages currently quarantined.
  • Provides a Database Maintenance Tool console to help DBA maintaining the Quarantine/Reporter databases.
  • Provides the ability to import email addresses, URL's and Hosts into its rules.
